MEETING POLICIES
The North Atlantic Right Whale Consortium is dedicated to providing a positive and productive conference experience for all attendees. To that end, we expect meeting attendees to abide by the following Code of Conduct:
Expected Behavior
If you are the subject of unacceptable behavior or have witnessed any such behavior, please immediately notify an event organizer. The notifier is not required or expected to discuss the concern with the alleged offender. All complaints will be treated seriously and investigated promptly. Confidentiality will be honored to the extent permitted as long as the rights of others are not compromised.
Expected Behavior
- All participants, attendees, venue staff, and others in attendance are treated with respect and consideration, valuing a diversity of views and opinions.
- Communicate openly with respect for others, critiquing ideas rather than individuals.
- Avoid personal attacks directed toward other attendees and venue staff.
- Respect the rules and policies of the meeting venue.
- Video or audio recording during the meeting is prohibited unless permission is sought from and granted by NARWC leadership in advance, and the audience is clearly notified when recording will happen. When permission to record a portion of the meeting is granted, everyone is permitted to record that portion of the meeting, not just the person granted permission.
- Please do not photograph oral presentations/content without advance permission from the speaker(s). Following presentations, attendees may ask speakers to share their slides/content.
- Harassment, intimidation or discrimination in any form.
- Physical or verbal abuse of any attendee, speaker, venue staff, others in attendance.
- Examples of unacceptable behavior include, but are not limited to, verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, national origin; inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces or in presentations; threatening or stalking any attendee, speaker, volunteer, exhibitor, event host staff, service provider or others in attendance.
- Disruption of talks at oral or poster sessions, activities and/or guests associated with the venue, or of other events organized by the NARWC.
- Anyone requested to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately.
- NARWC organizers (or their designee), venue staff, or security may take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, including immediate removal from the meeting without warning or refund.
- NARWC reserves the right to prohibit attendance at any future meeting.
